Franklin helps No. 22 Virginia top Hawaii 60-43

HONOLULU (AP) — Ataira Franklin scored 14 points and No. 22 Virginia beat Hawaii 60-43 in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown on Saturday.

Lexie Gerson added 13 points and Ariana Moorer 10 for the Cavaliers (5-1), who bounced back from a 79-53 loss to No. 24 Texas on Friday. Franklin had four steals.

Kamilah Jackson scored 21 points for Hawaii (1-5), which also got 11 points from Rebecca Drew and 13 rebounds from Shawna-Lei Kuehu.

Virginia shot just 36.2 percent (21 of 58), but that was better than Hawaii’s 24.0 percent (12 of 50). The Rainbows held a 42-36 rebounding advantage, but committed 23 turnovers.

The Cavaliers went ahead 31-21 at halftime and led by as many as 19 points late in the second half.
