Colts still trying to pull out of messy start

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts’ messy start just keeps getting worse.

With an 0-4 record and no indication Peyton Manning will return this season, team officials spent Tuesday trying to figure out who is healthy.

Defensive starters Gary Brackett and Melvin Bullitt are already out for the season, and Monday night’s loss is likely to cost Indy more players.

Each of the Colts’ top three draft picks — offensive tackles Anthony Castonzo and Ben Ijalana and defensive tackle Drake Nevis — left the game early. Defensive tackle Eric Foster spent the night in Tampa, Fla., after a gruesome injury to his right ankle, and Curtis Painter’s performance could renew the quarterback debate if Kerry Collins is cleared to play this week, too.
