Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is accepting proposals for a child-oriented mural project in the pediatric emergency department.

Each year, the seven-bed pediatric emergency department treats 12,000 patients.

The medical center is looking for artistic talent and community spirit to brighten a wall of the unit.

Individuals, groups, art teachers, art students — anyone with talent and time — are invited to submit proposals. The medical center will cover the cost of supplies, along with a modest stipend. A plaque identifying the artist(s) will also be mounted.

The mural will be painted on a 15-foot-wide, 10-foot-tall wall at the interior entrance to the pediatric emergency department. Additional art to spread the theme of the larger mural into smaller areas within the unit may also be negotiated.

Proposals should include a sketch and written description (no more than 250 words) of the mural, along with a rough cost estimate for supplies.

Submit proposals to Brian Willoughby, PR & Community Relations, Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, 2211 N.E. 139th St., Vancouver, WA 98686. The deadline to submit proposals is Nov. 4. Email questions to bwilloug@lhs.org.

A panel of hospital employees will review submissions.
