Union 41, Heritage 10

The Union Titans made it five wins in a row after a homecoming victory Friday night at McKenzie Stadium.

Union cruised to a 41-10 victory over Heritage in its first Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game of the season.

“We did some good things tonight,” coach Cale Piland said. “We still have some things to work on. In the end we have not come close to the level I know we can play at, which will be an exciting factor for the league games to come.”

The Titans rushed for 288 yards while gaining another 40 yards through the air.

Union running back Brandon Brody-Heim returned to action and led the team with 113 yards — with two touchdowns — on 16 carries.

“It was my first game actually back on both sides of the ball after my knee surgery,” Brody-Heim said. “It was great to get back into the pace of the game, and I’m really excited to see what’s next for us.”

Gabe Rego rushed for 96 yards on just seven carries and also scored twice for the Titans.

“The o-line blocked great tonight,” Rego said. “The holes were definitely there … to make our way through.”

A.J. Anderson had a 40-yard touchdown on a punt return with seven minutes left in the first half for the Titans.

Heritage starting quarterback Loren Standiford was on the sideline on crutches in the second half. Joseph Cooper finished the game behind center for the Timberwolves, throwing for 34 yards.

Cooper also ran for a 64-yard touchdown, the lone TD of the night for Heritage. He finished with 106 yards rushing.

Heritage was able to score before the end of the first half on a 23-yard field goal by Gage Boyce.
