DETROIT (AP) — Barry Sanders has not lost his touch in the Motor City.
The Hall of Fame running back was welcomed with “Bar-ry! Bar-ry! chants when he walked onto the turf at Ford Field.
Sanders was in the house to assist with the coin flip before the Detroit Lions hosted Chicago in their first Monday night game in a decade.
He posed for pictures with security guards outside the stadium and was greeted by comic actor Tim Allen when he strolled down the tunnel toward the field.
Sanders was inducted into the Pro Hall of Fame in 2004, five years after his retirement that left some Lions fans bitter.
He recorded a Detroit-related intro for “Monday Night Football” after ESPN pulled the “Are you ready for some football?” theme by Hank Williams Jr.
