The five men all were apprehended separately in various areas of the desert, from Casa Grande to Ajo.

They include a 34-year-old man from Jalisco, Mexico who was convicted in Oregon in 1996 for sexual abuse and multiple drunken-driving offenses. He also was convicted in 1997 in Virginia for attempted sexual battery and burglary.

Another man, a 49-year-old, was convicted of second-degree murder in California in 1997 and served six years in prison.

The other men had convictions that included sexual assault of a child under 3 years old, aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang and robbery.

All of the men were being held on charges of illegal re-entry of an aggravated felon.
