FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Chad Ochocinco is getting a vote of confidence from his offensive coordinator despite his slow start this season.
Bill O’Brien said Monday that Ochocinco is making progress every week and that the New England Patriots (5-1) are happy with where he is now.
He has just nine catches in six games since being traded by the Cincinnati Bengals in late July. Tom Brady threw only one pass his way in Sunday’s 20-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys and that fell incomplete.
O’Brien said that Ochocinco has done a really good job in practice and that at some point the Patriots are going to need everyone to contribute. He said Ochocinco is working hard to produce and eventually help the team in different ways.
