Vancouver — A free workshop in Vancouver next Tuesday will focus on the benefits of “green roofs.”

Participants will learn more about the growing trend, which puts soil and plants on top of buildings to extend roof life and save money on utilities. The free workshop will feature green roof installer Bob Adams, whose projects include Grass Valley Elementary School in Camas and Portland International Airport.

The workshop is part of a “Growing Our Green Future” event series hosted by Columbia Springs. The event lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Columbia Springs, 12208 Old Evergreen Highway in Vancouver.

More information is available at http://columbiasprings.org. People may also call Columbia Springs’ sustainability educator Kenneth O’Brien at 360-882-0936, ext. 225.
