COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado Rapids say midfielder Jamie Smith is expected to miss about six months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Smith was injured Thursday in an MLS wild card match. The Rapids won 1-0 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The team says Smith will undergo knee surgery Tuesday morning.

Smith scored three goals and had four assists for the Rapids this season.
