NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL All-Star game is getting a title sponsor with deep hockey roots.
The league says its showcase game on Jan. 29 in Ottawa will be known as the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game.
Horton co-founded the Tim Hortons doughnut shop, the Canadian mainstay that is one of the largest fast-food chains in North America.
Horton was an NHL defenseman from 1949 until his death in a car accident in 1974. He played for Toronto, the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
