DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers have activated second baseman Carlos Guillen from the disabled list and called up four players from the minor leagues to join their expanded September roster.

Guillen went on the DL on Aug. 14 with a sore left wrist.

Detroit recalled right-hander Jacob Turner, second baseman Will Rhymes and outfielder Andy Dirks from Triple-A Toledo and purchased the contract of right-hander Luis Marte from Double-A Erie. Turner was brought up to start Thursday’s game against Kansas City, giving ace Justin Verlander an extra day off before pitching Friday night against the Chicago White Sox.

Marte struck out 10 hitters in 3 2-3 innings for Erie on Monday.
