ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Denver Broncos second-year wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is participating in his first practice since tearing an Achilles tendon during offseason workouts in Atlanta in February.
Thomas was expected to start the season on the physically unable to perform list and rejoin the team in October. But he showed enough progress in individual workouts during the preseason for the Broncos to put him on their 53-man roster.
Thomas had a rough rookie year after leaving Georgia Tech following his junior season. He broke his left foot in predraft workouts, but was still the first receiver selected in the draft.
He reinjured his foot in training camp, was knocked out of one game with a concussion and was sidelined for the final five weeks of the season with a sprained ankle.
