COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A consultant leading a review of Ohio State compliance programs in the wake of the football team’s memorabilia scandal says the tone from the top is important to success.

Michael Brauneis (BROW’-ness) of Protiviti Inc. told OSU trustees Thursday the structure of universities makes it crucial that people know what’s expected of them when it comes to following rules.

A months-long analysis is looking at compliance across campus, including athletics, research, student financial aid and Ohio State hospitals.

The review comes as Ohio State tries to recover from an NCAA rules scandal that cost former coach Jim Tressel his job and led to the departure of quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

Brauneis says Ohio State is ahead of the curve when it comes to such a review.
