BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Last year, Boise State boasted one of the nation’s stingiest defenses.
This year’s group is acting like it hasn’t missed a beat.
Except for a few big plays, the defense for the No. 4 Broncos bottled up Georgia’s offense en route to an impressive 35-21 victory in the Georgia Dome.
The defense notched six sacks, held talented freshman tailback Isaiah Crowell to 60 yards rushing and energized the offense with an interception late in the first half.
It was an impressive opening performance by a defense missing four key players from last year and starting senior safety Cedric Febis amid eligibility issues.
Linebacker J.C. Percy says this year’s defense is anchored by a deep and veteran line capable of dominating the line of scrimmage and harassing opposing quarterbacks.
