NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. Open women’s final’s preliminary television rating is up 121 percent from last year’s championship match.
Sam Stosur’s win over Serena Williams earned a 4.2 overnight rating and an 8 share Sunday afternoon after rain pushed back the tournament’s schedule. Last year’s final, in which Kim Clijsters beat Vera Zvonareva, was on its normal Saturday night and drew a 1.9/4.
Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time. Overnight ratings measure the country’s largest markets.
