Delaware dominates Delaware State 45-0

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Delaware scored five first half touchdowns to help the Blue Hens dominate Delaware State 45-0 on Saturday.

The Blue Hens (2-1) racked up 512 yards on offense while holding the Hornets (2-1) to four first downs and minus-3 yards rushing.

Tim Donnelly and Andrew Pierce paced the Blue Hens’ explosive offense, combining for five touchdowns and 327 total yards. Donnelly completed 13 of 14 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. His 11-yard pass to Nihja White in the second quarter gave the Blue Hens a 21-0 lead.

Pierce pounded the Delaware State defense, rushing for 106 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns to help Delaware pull away from the Hornets.

Delaware State’s offense struggled, as Nick Elko only managed 115 yards passing and was sacked four times.

The game was only second regular-season meeting between the teams, with Delaware now leading the series 2-0.
