WACO, Texas (AP) — While the game was delayed 40 minutes by lightning, officials from No. 19 Baylor and Stephen F. Austin came up with a way to made up for lost time.
Just before play resumed with 2:14 left in the first half and Baylor leading 31-0 on Saturday night, it was announced that halftime would be skipped and the final two quarters would be shortened by three minutes each.
The announcement drew cheers from the fans who returned. Several thousand headed home.
