FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Roddy White isn’t used to being an afterthought in the Atlanta offense.
He’s put up more than 1,000 yards receiving four years in a row, but defenses have clamped down on the Falcons’ wideouts in the first two games. That’s freed up tight end Tony Gonzalez and running back Michael Turner to put up big numbers, but it’s left White a bit frustrated.
He’s certainly not happy with 84 yards receiving on 11 catches.
White is looking for a breakout performance Sunday when the Falcons (1-1) travel to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers (1-1) in an early NFC South showdown.
The Falcons insist it’s only a matter of time before White and the other starting receiver, first-round pick Julio Jones, begin to put up some big numbers.
