FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) — Now that an online process is available, general contractors and tradesmen in Oregon will no longer have to stop what they’re doing to go stand in line at city hall or the county building for building, electrical or plumbing permits.
In Florence, where a limited test run of the ePermit program has been under way since 2009, building official Carl Dependahl (DEPP-en-doll) tells KCST (http://bit.ly/nywLCH ) the online permits should be a big time-saver for builders.
Another advantage, he says, is that record-keeping the state requires is handled online and maintained by the state.
The state provides free training and software. The online process is funded by surcharges on applications.
