Getafe beats Spanish leader Real Betis 1-0

MADRID (AP) — Getafe beat Spanish league leader Real Betis 1-0 on Monday night, with Diego Castro scoring his team’s first goal in three games on a 31st-minute counterattack.

Betis (4-1) fell one win short of matching the best start in team history. It leads with 12 points, one more than defending champion Barcelona, Levante and Sevilla (each 3-0-2) and two in front of Real Madrid, Malaga and Valencia (all 3-1-1).

Getafe (1-3-1) moved up to 16th with four points.

NORWICH, England (AP) — Norwich earned its first home win of the Premier League season, taking advantage of slack defending to beat Sunderland 2-1.

Leon Barnett put the hosts ahead in the 31st minute after winger Elliott Bennett had skipped into the right side of the penalty area and delivered a low cross for the defender to slot into the net from close range.

Steve Morison’s header in the 48th minute doubled the lead before substitute Kieran Richardson scored for Sunderland in the 86th.

Norwich (2-2-2) is ninth with eight points, while Sunderland (1-3-2) is 14th with five.
