HOUSTON (AP) — St. Louis left fielder Matt Holliday left Tuesday night’s game against the Houston Astros in the third inning because of discomfort in his right hand.

Holliday flied out to right field in his only at-bat in the second inning. He is listed as day to day.

He was replaced by Allen Craig with the Astros leading 1-0.

Holliday returned to the Cardinals on Saturday after missing nine games with a tendon injury on his right middle finger.

The Cardinals entered Tuesday’s game one game behind Atlanta in the NL wild-card race.
