ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay first baseman Casey Kotchman was taken to a hospital after experiencing tightness in his chest before Tuesday night’s game against the New York Yankees.

Kotchman was seen leaving the clubhouse on a rolling stretcher for tests. He was replaced in the lineup by Sean Rodriguez, who batted seventh.

Rays spokesman Rick Vaughn said taking Kotchman to hospital was precautionary.

Tampa Bay entered play Tuesday tied with Boston in the AL wild-card race with two games remaining. Kotchman is batting .305 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs.
