Driver dies in crash that cut off power to 2,000

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A woman involved in a high-speed crash that cut off power to most of Oregon City has died of her injuries.

KPTV reports (http://bit.ly/r56R2q ) 25-year-old Leann Brooks died Tuesday from injuries suffered in the crash.

Brooks’ truck hit a guardrail at about 80 mph, striking a power pole. The crash cut off power to about 2,000 people in Oregon City for about seven hours on Monday.

Investigators say Brooks mishandled a 90-degree turn on Monday night. Firefighter spent 30 minutes trying to extricate her from the car.

She was flown by air ambulance to a Portland hospital, where she died of her injuries.
