KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Marcos Baghdatis beat second-seeded Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday to set up a match against Janko Tipsarevic in the Malaysian Open final.
The third-seeded Tipsarevic, from Serbia, beat Japan’s Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-3 to put himself in contention for his first career title in his third final of the season.
Baghdatis, playing as a wild card after slipping to No. 60 in the rankings, broke the 15th-ranked Troicki three times. The Cypriot’s last reached an ATP final at the Kremlin Cup 11 months ago.
