CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Josh Dionne scored four consecutive goals in the third period Friday night and Duke continued its dominance of top-ranked Virginia, beating the Cavaliers 13-5 to earn the top seed in next week’s ACC tournament.
The Blue Devils (11-3) won their fourth straight and for the 12th time in the last 13 meetings with Virginia (10-2).
The Blue Devils held Virginia to a season-low two goals in the first half, and led 4-2 after getting two goals from Jordan Wolf and one each from Christian Walsh and Robert Rotanz. They outscored the Cavaliers 5-0 in the third period to put it away.
Dionne scored the first four of those in just over 10 minutes, and Michael Manley made it 9-2 late in the period.
Duke goalie Dan Wigrizer made 14 saves.
