LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Halfway to the Sochi Winter Olympics, the U.S. bobsled team is in a good place after a strong showing at world championships in February.
Steven Holcomb’s sweep of the two-man and four-man races and a bronze medal earned by up-and-coming women’s driver Elana Meyers puts the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation (USBSF) in a good place.
USBSF chief executive officer Darrin Steele says the third year between the games is crucial because that leads into the confidence of the Olympic year.
The only thing that’s lacking now is somebody to maintain the equipment. Since a falling out last year with the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, the USBSF hasn’t had anybody to maintain the sleds on a regular basis.
