SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have placed Cliff Lee on the 15-day disabled list after he strained a muscle in his left side in the 10th inning of his gem Wednesday night at San Francisco.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says Lee was sore on Friday and the team wants to be cautious with the injury. Amaro says the team hopes Lee misses only a couple starts.
Lee threw 10 scoreless innings at San Francisco but got a no-decision. The Giants won 1-0 in 11 innings.
The lefty had been scheduled to pitch Monday night at Arizona. Right-hander Kyle Kendrick is now scheduled to make that start.
To take Lee’s spot on the roster, the Phillies recalled lefty Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
