TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman says a 28-year-old woman who surprised a burglar in her home was stabbed in the leg when she wrestled with the man.

Spokesman Ed Troyer says the encounter took place Monday afternoon in Fircrest, west of Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports (http://is.gd/omMe08 ) that the woman came home and found the man. Troyer says the burglar took several items after stabbing the woman. Her roommate found her a few minutes later.

She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
