LONDON (AP) — Sergei Martynov of Belarus maintained his status as the Olympic favorite in the 50-meter rifle prone as he won the World Cup at the Royal Artillery Barracks on Tuesday.
Martynov topped qualifying on a windy day with 595 points and scored a finals-best 104.9 to win his 16th career World Cup with a 699.9 total.
Torben Grimmel of Denmark, the 2000 Olympic silver medalist, hit the 9-ring twice in the final but shot well enough to score 698.7 and edge Michael McPhail of the United States by a tenth of a point.
American Eric Uptagrafft was sixth.
