SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Giants second baseman Freddy Sanchez made repairs on his uniform pants as he discussed his latest setback since recovering from shoulder surgery last August.
Sanchez said Friday he felt a strain in his shoulder during pre-game warmups earlier this week with the Giants’ Class-A affiliate in San Jose. He was scheduled to play second base Thursday but was moved to designated hitter to avoid further stress on his shoulder.
Sanchez underwent an MRI on his shoulder, with results to be made available following Friday night’s game against San Diego.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Sanchez will get at least five days off before being reevaluated.
