PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police have made an arrest in connection with a 1997 homicide.
Sgt. Pete Simpson says detectives with the the cold-case unit arrested 46-year-old Samuel Lee Etheridge in Dare County, N.C.
No details have been released about the killing. Simpson says the information is being withheld until the victim’s family can be found and notified.
Investigators re-opened the case in January and discovered new evidence that allowed them to obtain an arrest warrant.
Etheridge is in a North Carolina jail awaiting extradition.
