EAST WENATCHEE — The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will approve a “State of State Parks” report on the status of the park system and the best financing mix to make it stable on Thursday in East Wenatchee.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the parks system’s Eastern Region office, 270 Ninth St., Suite 200.
The report is required as part of the 2012 legislative proviso and will be submitted to the state Office of Financial Management by Aug. 15.
The proviso directs the commission to provide a status report on the Discover Pass, a new fee program started in 2011 to move the park system to a more self-supporting funding model.
The pass is a $30 annual or $10 daily vehicle pass now required of more day visitors and recreation users on lands managed by state parks, the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources.
