LONDON (AP) — Australia won a men’s field hockey medal for a sixth straight Olympics, beating Britain 3-1 for the bronze on Saturday.

The fourth bronze in five Olympics, however, was only a consolation prize. The top-ranked and world champion Australians came to London confident of winning their second gold.

Australia dominated possession against a British team trying to win its first medal since it won the 1988 Games. Britain’s fourth-place finish was its best Olympic finish since Seoul.

Simon Orchard and Jamie Dwyer had penalty corner goals for Australia and Kieran Govers added another score. Iain Lewers scored for Britain.
