Bridgetown wins $100K Troy Stakes at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Bridgetown took the lead at the break and led at every stride to win the $100,000 Troy Stakes by a half-length Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course.

John Velazquez rode the Todd Pletcher-trained 5-year-old, who ran 5 1/2 furlongs over the turf course in 1:01.52. the favorite in the field of eight earned $60,000 for the Melnyk Racing Stable and paid $4.90, $2.80 and $2.40. Perfect Officer, second throughout, returned $2.90 and $2.40 and Wekiva Wachee, paid $4.90 to show.
