SEATTLE (AP) — Brad Jackson is leaving as head coach of Division II national champion Western Washington to join Lorenzo Romar’s at Washington as an assistant.

Both schools announced the move Friday. Jackson had been the head coach at Western Washington for 27 years, racking up 518 victories and capping his career at the school by leading the Vikings to their first national championship last season.

Romar tried to hire Jackson in the previously. He says getting Jackson coming off a national title is “an absolute steal.” It’s unclear if Jackson is an addition to the Huskies staff or replacing another assistant coach.

Western Washington announced Tony Dominguez, an assistant under Jackson for the last 19 years, will take over as the Vikings interim head coach.
