Letter: Don’t believe Obama’s promises

The Columbian
Published: August 25, 2012, 5:00pm

It is hard to believe that people will vote for Barack Obama because they like one thing he promised and are sure he will do it. Those people are in for a big surprise. Obama is a convincing speaker and will tell people whatever they want to hear to get a vote.

Does anyone remember four years ago when we heard wonderful promises of better government, transparency, a great economy, etc.? What happened? Millions of people got 99 weeks of unemployment and have given up looking for work. Small businesses are closing regularly. Houses in large numbers have been foreclosed. Huge sums of taxpayer money has been given to banks, labor unions, and bad business ventures that will never be repaid. Senate Leader Harry Reid blocks almost everything the House passes so Congress stagnates.

America is no longer a great power. People have lost trust. What a mess.

I know the candidate who gets my vote.
