MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — South Dakota State guard Nate Wolters has been ruled out of the game at No. 14 Minnesota.

The senior shooting guard has been bothered by an ankle injury. He was on the court for warmups on Tuesday night, but freshman Jake Bittle was in the starting lineup instead.

The 6-foot-3 Wolters, who led the Jackrabbits to their first NCAA tournament appearance last season, missed out on his last opportunity to play in his home state. He went to St. Cloud Tech High School, about a 90-minute drive from the Minnesota campus.

In 2011-12, Wolters became just the fifth player in NCAA history to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists per game in a season.
