PORTLAND, Ore. — Another storm is clobbering the southern and central Oregon coast, with high winds knocking down trees and highway crews clearing them off the roads.
Several trees fell across Oregon 18 west of Lincoln City, and one blocked U.S. 101 north of Florence for a time Tuesday morning. The Oregon Department of Transportation says Highway 18 was cleared, and traffic resumed, in one lane initially, on Highway 101.
The National Weather Service reported that wind speeds of 40 mph to 60 mph were common in southern Oregon from the coast as far inland as Lake County on the east side of the Cascade Range.
Along with the wind will come rain extending into Wednesday, and more flood threats in southwestern and south central Oregon.
