RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Michael Lyons scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and Air Force shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to beat UC Riverside 61-53 on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons led 30-28 at halftime but it was quickly tied at 30 after a Josh Fox dunk for UC Riverside just seconds into the second half. The Falcons responded with a 10-0 run capped off by a Lyons jumper with 15:34 to go, giving Air Force all the momentum it would need to cruise the rest of the way.
Kyle Green hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Air Force (8-2) and Taylor Broekhuis scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
UC Riverside (3-9) shot just 36 percent from the field and committed 19 turnovers. Chris Patton scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Highlanders. Robert Smith chipped in with 11 points.
