Stitt, Charleston beat Coastal Carolina 60-51

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Anthony Stitt tallied 22 points and seven assists and College of Charleston led wire-to-wire in a 60-51 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday in a nonconference matchup.

Charleston (5-5) led 26-19 at halftime and outscored Coastal Carolina 27-13 over the first 14 minutes of the second half to take a 53-32 advantage. Stitt, who entered the game averaging 8.9 points, scored 10 during the run, five of which came from the charity stripe. The 6-foot-1 guard hit a game-high seven free throws in the win.

The Cougars, winners of two straight, shot 41.7 percent (20 of 48) and held Coastal Carolina (6-5), which is averaging 42.3 percent this season, to 38.3 percent (18 of 47) shooting.

Kierre Greenwood led Coastal Carolina with 17 points and El Hadji Ndieguene had 14, but the Chanticleers’ leading scorer on the season Anthony Raffa (20.9) was held to zero points on 0-of-6 shooting.
