Battle Ground — “A mix of hardboiled noir with SF and mixed with a subgenre that the author refers to as bug-punk.”
That’s a description of “God’s War,” the first novel by former Battle Ground resident Kameron Hurley, who graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1998 and received an associate’s degree at Clark College.
She went on to the University of Alaska in Fairbanks and graduate school in South Africa. Now she lives in Dayton, Ohio.
Her book, published a year ago, just won a British Kitschie Award for the best debut novel in “genre literature” — that is, science fiction and fantasy. The award contest is sponsored by Kraken Rum.
