A 61-year-old Ridgefield woman was killed in a Saturday afternoon traffic crash in Woodland, police said.

Leonarda H. Garcia was a passenger in a 1993 Toyota pickup driven by her husband, Marco T. Garcia, 62, said Woodland police Sgt. Robb Lipp.

The two-vehicle crash happened at 4:06 p.m. on state Highway 503 (Lewis River Road) and North Goerig St.

Ripp said a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jacquelyn Vittitow, 34, of Portland was eastbound on the highway when it “crossed the centerline, striking head-on into” the Toyota, which was westbound, according to the press release.

Both Garcias were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Leonarda died of blunt-force trauma to the chest shortly after arriving, the press release said. Marco was treated and released from the hospital.

Lipp said an investigation continues and the accident would be forwarded to the Cowlitz County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
