PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Mitchell Anderson had 24 points and 15 rebounds Monday night and Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Prairie View A&M 61-58.
Anderson, who scored 19 in the second half, made two free throws for the game’s final points with 19 seconds to play. Prairie View missed a 3-point try in the closing moments.
Lazabian Jackson added 13 points for the Golden Lions (7-21, 6-9 SWAC), who trailed 31-23 late in the first half before drawing within 31-30 at the break. They continued their run of 16 straight points by scoring the first seven in the second half to open a 37-31 lead. Neither team led by more than eight points and the game was tied 10 times.
The Panthers (11-16, 7-8) scored six straight points to get within 59-58 before Anderson’s late free throws. Ryan Gesiakowski had 16 points and Louis Munks scored 10 to lead Prairie View.
