SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon House has voted to increase the number of enterprise zones to encourage businesses to invest in economically depressed areas.

Companies can get tax breaks for building or expanding in Oregon’s 32 enterprise zones. Lawmakers voted Monday to add eight new zones — five of which must be in rural areas.

The House’s approval sends the measure to the Senate.
