A Portland TV station is reporting that a Vancouver soldier has been seriously wounded in Afghanistan.

Michael Crawford, a recent Union High School graduate, was wounded Dec. 27 when an IED detonated near his vehicle, KGW-TV reported Wednesday night. He was just weeks into his deployment.

The explosion killed three and injured three, including Crawford.

Currently at a military hospital in Texas, Crawford’s injuries include a broken back, his father told KGW.

“The initial prognosis was that he will not walk,” Adam Crawford told KGW. “He’s lost feeling and mobility.”
