Clemson All-America TE Allen heading to NFL

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Clemson All-America tight end Dwayne Allen is heading to the NFL.

The school said Friday night that Allen would give up his senior season to enter the draft.

Allen had 50 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, all single-season records for tight ends at Clemson. He helped the Tigers (10-4) win their first Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 20 years.

Allen won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end and was selected to the AP All-America first team this season.

Allen, a redshirt junior, said he’s feels ready to go pro after four years at Clemson.

Allen caught a pass in 26 of his last 27 games.

Underclassmen have until Jan. 18 to withdraw from the draft as long they haven’t hired an agent.
