Savannah State defeats Coppin State 72-60

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Arnold Louis had 24 points and 17 rebounds, both career highs, and Savanah Sate defeated Coppin State 72-60 on Saturday.

The Tigers forced 20 turnovers and came up with 11 steals, including four by Louis. Savannah State held the Eagles to just 47 field goal attempts. Coppin State made 46.8 percent (22 of 47) from the field. Savannah State also made 46.8 percent (29 of 62), with Louis connecting on 11 of 17 attempts.

Deric Rudolph added 18 points for the Tigers (6-9, 2-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). It was the second-highest point total of the season against a Division I team for Savannah State, which had been held to less than 60 points in four of its previous six games.

Tony Gallo scored 15 points, Antonio Williams had 14 and Taariq Cephas 11 for the Eagles (6-9, 1-1), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.
