EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Atlanta Falcons starting cornerback Brent Grimes will not play in the NFC wild-card game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Grimes did not play in the Falcons’ season finale because of a knee injury that also forced him to miss four of the final five games. He was inactive for the game and replaced by Dominique Franks.

Spencer Adkins started at outside linebacker for Atlanta for the second straight week with Stephen Nicholas out with a toe injury.

Rookie running back Da’Rel Scott, who has been handling some kickoff returns, was the not active for the Giants with a knee injury. Also inactive was rookie linebacker Mark Herzlich, who missed his sixth straight game with an ankle injury.
