Boston U. beats Stony Brook 61-55

BOSTON (AP) — Darryl Partin scored 18 points and Boston University beat Stony Brook 61-55 on Saturday.

Boston (7-11, 3-1 American East) opened the game on a 14-2 run and wouldn’t look back, as the Terriers led throughout the entire game. Stony Brook tied it at 38-38 in the second half but Partin scored five straight to put Boston back ahead 43-38.

D.J. Irving, who made all six of his free throw attempts, finished with 11 points and Matt Griffin added 10 for Boston.

Despite outrebounding Boston (31-28) and outscoring the Terriers in the paint (26-22), Stony Brook made only nine shots in the first half and shot 39.4 percent (13 of 33) in the second half.

Boston shot 46.9 percent (23 of 49) from the field and made 9 of 10 free throws.

Dave Coley led Stony Brook (9-7, 4-1) with 21 points and Bryan Dougher added 14.
