Try this: Farmers market is back

Visitors to the Vancouver Farmers Market’s season opener Saturday can sample a taste of spring. Hundreds of vendors from across the region will offer locally grown produce, baked goods, flowers, food and crafts at the downtown market.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

The market is among several options for getting out and about this weekend. Others include a St. Patrick’s Day festival and some community theater.

2. A little bit country

Classic tunes will be offered during “The Best of Country Musical Review,” featuring the band Bad Agent and many of the regular Magenta Theater actors. Together, they will perform songs by country stars past and present, from Patsy Cline to George Strait.

When: 4 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

3. Do an Irish jig

Catch a bit of luck at the fifth-annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Irishtown Public House. Entertainment will includes Celtic music and dance by the Molly Malone Irish Dancers, the Tom May Irish Trio, Beltaine Celtic Band and Sky in the Road. Pub owner Peter Yeates also will perform throughout the event. Irish dishes and beverages will also be offered.

11:30 a.m. Saturday to 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Admission: $5 before 3 p.m.; $10 after 3 p.m.

4. Celebrate community theater acts

Vancouver Community Theater presents its 18th Annual One Act Festival, featuring three one-act plays. “Forgotten Souls” follows a young woman and her two newest renters. “The Tangled Web” is the story of a professor who reluctantly helps a young thief. And “Females of Contrast” is a Victorian play about a spoiled girl who dumps a nearby neighbor, while her new servant catches his eye.

When: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.

5. Undercover comedy in ‘21 Jump Street’

When cops Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) join the secret Jump Street unit, they’re sent undercover to a local high school to investigate a drug ring, thanks to their youthful appearance. But they find high school isn’t what they remember, as they relive their high school years and attempt to confront their old teenage anxieties. “21 Jump Street” is rated R.
